Q 11-04-204JEE MainJEE Main 2025 (2 Apr, Shift 2)Easy
A body of mass $1\ \text{kg}$ is suspended with the help of two strings making angles as shown in the figure. The magnitudes of tensions $T_1$ and $T_2$, respectively, are (in N): (take $g = 10\ \text{m/s}^2$)
Answer: (B) $5\sqrt3,\ 5$
$T_1$ makes $60^\circ$ and $T_2$ makes $30^\circ$ with the horizontal, so the strings are perpendicular to each other.
Horizontal: $T_1\cos60^\circ = T_2\cos30^\circ \Rightarrow T_1 = \sqrt3\,T_2$.
Vertical: $T_1\sin60^\circ + T_2\sin30^\circ = mg = 10$
$$\sqrt3T_2\cdot\frac{\sqrt3}{2} + \frac{T_2}{2} = 2T_2 = 10 \Rightarrow T_2 = 5\ \text{N},\quad T_1 = 5\sqrt3\ \text{N}$$
