A cubic block of mass $m$ is sliding down an inclined plane at $60^\circ$ with an acceleration of $\dfrac g2$. The value of the coefficient of kinetic friction is:
Answer: (A) $\sqrt3 - 1$
Along the incline: $mg\sin60^\circ - \mu mg\cos60^\circ = m\dfrac g2$
$$\frac{\sqrt3}{2} - \frac\mu2 = \frac12 \Rightarrow \mu = \sqrt3 - 1$$
