Q 11-07-120JEE MainJEE Main 2022 (25 Jun, Shift 2)Easy
Two satellites $S_1$ and $S_2$ are revolving in circular orbits around a planet with radius $R_1 = 3200\ \text{km}$ and $R_2 = 800\ \text{km}$ respectively. The ratio of the speed of satellite $S_1$ to the speed of satellite $S_2$ in their respective orbits would be $\dfrac1x$ where $x$ = ______.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 2
Orbital speed $v = \sqrt{\dfrac{GM}{r}}\propto\dfrac1{\sqrt r}$:
$$\frac{v_1}{v_2} = \sqrt{\frac{800}{3200}} = \frac12\ \Rightarrow\ x = 2$$
