Identify the correct Logic Gate for the following output $(Y)$ of two inputs $A$ and $B$.
Answer: (B) An AND gate followed by a NOT gate
Reading the eight intervals:
$$\begin{array}{|c|c|c|}\hline A & B & Y \\ \hline 1 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1 \\ 0 & 1 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 & 1 \\ \hline \end{array}$$
$Y$ is 0 only when both inputs are 1, so $Y = \overline{A\cdot B}$: a NAND gate, i.e. an AND gate followed by a NOT gate.
Check the others: NOR would give 0 for $(0,1)$; option (3) gives $A\bar B$, which is 0 for $(0,0)$; option (4) gives $\bar A + B$, which is 0 for $(1,0)$.
