A ball is thrown vertically upward with an initial velocity of $150\ \text{m s}^{-1}$. The ratio of velocity after $3$ s and $5$ s is $\dfrac{x+1}{x}$. The value of $x$ is ______. (take $g=10\ \text{m s}^{-2}$)
Answer: (D) 5
$v_3=150-30=120$, $v_5=150-50=100$. $\dfrac{120}{100}=\dfrac65=\dfrac{x+1}{x}\Rightarrow x=5$.
