A force on an object of mass $100\ \text{g}$ is $(10\hat i + 5\hat j)\ \text{N}$. The position of that object at $t = 2\ \text{s}$ is $(a\hat i + b\hat j)\ \text{m}$ after starting from rest. The value of $\dfrac ab$ will be ______.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 2
$\vec a = \dfrac{\vec F}{m} = (100\hat i + 50\hat j)\ \text{m s}^{-2}$. Starting from rest (at the origin), $\vec r = \frac12\vec a t^2 = (200\hat i + 100\hat j)\ \text{m}$.
So $\dfrac ab = \dfrac{200}{100} = 2$.
