Q 11-04-136JEE MainJEE Main 2022 (25 Jun, Shift 2)Easy
A curve in a level road has a radius $75\ \text{m}$. The maximum speed of a car turning this curved road can be $30\ \text{m s}^{-1}$ without skidding. If the radius of the curved road is changed to $48\ \text{m}$ and the coefficient of friction between the tyres and the road remains the same, then the maximum allowed speed would be ______ $\text{m s}^{-1}$.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 24
$v_{\max} = \sqrt{\mu rg}\propto\sqrt r$:
$$v' = 30\sqrt{\frac{48}{75}} = 30\times\frac45 = 24\ \text{m s}^{-1}$$
