The primary coil of a transformer is connected to $220\ \text{V}$ AC. The primary and secondary turns of the transformer are 100 and 10 respectively. The secondary coil is connected to two resistances, $15\ \text{k}\Omega$ and $7\ \text{k}\Omega$, in series. The output voltage $V_0$ is measured across the $7\ \text{k}\Omega$ resistance. $V_0$ is:
Answer: (A) $7\ \text{V}$
Secondary voltage: $V_s = 220\times\dfrac{10}{100} = 22\ \text{V}$.
This divides between $15\ \text{k}\Omega$ and $7\ \text{k}\Omega$:
$$V_0 = 22\times\frac{7}{22} = 7\ \text{V}$$
