Q 12-07-053JEE MainJEE Main 2024 (6 Apr, Shift 1)Medium
Given below are two statements:
**Statement I:** In an LCR series circuit, the current is maximum at resonance.
**Statement II:** The current in a purely resistive circuit can never be less than that in a series LCR circuit when connected to the same voltage source.
In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below:
Answer: (C) Both Statement I and Statement II are true
At resonance the impedance is least ($Z = R$), so the current is maximum: Statement I is true.
With the same resistance, $Z = \sqrt{R^2 + (X_L - X_C)^2} \ge R$, so the current $V/Z$ in the LCR circuit can never exceed $V/R$: Statement II is true.
