In an a.c. circuit, voltage and current are given by $V = 100\sin(100t)\ \text{V}$ and $I = 100\sin\left(100t + \dfrac\pi3\right)\ \text{mA}$ respectively. The average power dissipated in one cycle is:
Answer: (C) $2.5\ \text{W}$
$$P = \frac12V_0I_0\cos\phi = \frac12\times100\times0.1\times\cos\frac\pi3 = 5\times\frac12 = 2.5\ \text{W}$$
