Q 11-14-057JEE MainJEE Main 2023 (15 Apr, Shift 1)Easy
The fundamental frequency of vibration of a string between two rigid supports is $50\ \text{Hz}$. The mass of the string is $18\ \text{g}$ and its linear mass density is $20\ \text{g m}^{-1}$. The speed of the transverse waves so produced in the string is ______ $\text{m s}^{-1}$.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 90
Length $L=\dfrac{18}{20}=0.9\ \text{m}$. Fundamental: $\lambda=2L=1.8\ \text{m}$, so $v=f\lambda=50\times1.8=90\ \text{m s}^{-1}$.
