A light whose electric field vectors are completely removed by using a good polaroid is allowed to be incident on the surface of a prism at Brewster's angle. Choose the most suitable option for the phenomenon related to the prism.
Answer: (D) No reflection, and there will be total transmission of light.
Light that a polaroid can block completely is plane polarised. At Brewster's angle the reflected light contains only the component vibrating perpendicular to the plane of incidence; for light polarised in the plane of incidence nothing is reflected. So (taking the light to be polarised in the plane of incidence) there is no reflected ray and all the light is transmitted.
