Q 11-11-109JEE MainJEE Main 2022 (27 Jun, Shift 2)Easy
A diatomic gas $(\gamma = 1.4)$ does $400$ J of work when it is expanded isobarically. The heat given to the gas in the process is ______ J.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 1400
At constant pressure, $W = nR\Delta T$ and $Q = nC_p\Delta T = \dfrac{\gamma}{\gamma - 1}nR\Delta T$.
$$Q = \frac{\gamma}{\gamma - 1}W = \frac{1.4}{0.4}\times400 = 1400\ \text{J}$$
