Q 11-11-096JEE MainJEE Main 2023 (10 Apr, Shift 1)Medium
Consider two containers $A$ and $B$ containing monoatomic gases at the same pressure $P$, volume $V$ and temperature $T$. The gas in $A$ is compressed isothermally to $\dfrac18$ of its original volume while the gas in $B$ is compressed adiabatically to $\dfrac18$ of its original volume. The ratio of final pressure of gas in $B$ to that of gas in $A$ is
Answer: (B) 4
Isothermal: $P_A=8P$. Adiabatic with $\gamma=\dfrac53$: $P_B=P\,8^{5/3}=32P$. Ratio $=\dfrac{32}{8}=4$.
