Q 12-14-032JEE MainHard
An n-p-n transistor in common-emitter mode has $V_{CC} = 10$ V, collector resistor $R_C = 2\ \text{k}\Omega$ and $\beta = 100$. Taking $V_{CE} = 0$ at saturation, find the minimum base current (in $\mu$A) that drives the transistor into saturation.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 50
At saturation the whole supply appears across $R_C$:
$I_{C,\text{sat}} = \dfrac{10}{2000} = 5$ mA.
The base current needed is $I_B = \dfrac{I_{C,\text{sat}}}{\beta} = \dfrac{5\ \text{mA}}{100} = 50\ \mu$A.
