Q 11-03-038NEETJEE MainEasy
An aeroplane flying horizontally at $360$ km/h at a height of $500$ m wants to drop a food packet on a target on the ground. How far horizontally before the target should the packet be released? ($g = 10\ \text{m/s}^2$)
Answer: (C) $1000$ m
$360$ km/h $= 100$ m/s. The packet keeps this horizontal velocity.
Time of fall: $t = \sqrt{\dfrac{2 \times 500}{10}} = 10$ s.
Horizontal distance $= 100 \times 10 = 1000$ m.
