As shown in the figure the voltmeter reads $2\ \text{V}$ across $5\ \Omega$ resistor. The resistance of the voltmeter is ______ $\Omega$.

Answer: 20
The $2\ \Omega$ resistor has $3-2=1\ \text{V}$ across it, so the total current is $0.5\ \text{A}$.
Current in $5\ \Omega$: $\dfrac25=0.4\ \text{A}$; the voltmeter takes $0.1\ \text{A}$, so $R_V=\dfrac{2}{0.1}=20\ \Omega$.
