Which of the following equations represents a travelling wave?
Answer: (A) $y = A\sin(15x - 2t)$
A travelling wave depends on $x$ and $t$ only through a combination $(x \pm vt)$. $y = A\sin(15x - 2t)$ is of this form, moving along $+x$ with speed $2/15$.
(2) and (3) are not functions of $x - vt$, and (4) is a standing wave.
