For the circuit shown below, calculate the value of $I_z$:
Answer: (A) 25 mA
The Zener holds 50 V across the load.
Current through $R_S$: $\dfrac{100 - 50}{1000} = 50$ mA. Load current: $\dfrac{50}{2000} = 25$ mA.
$I_Z = 50 - 25 = 25$ mA.
