A ray of light passing through a prism $(\mu = \sqrt3)$ suffers minimum deviation. It is found that the angle of incidence is double the angle of refraction within the prism. Then, the angle of prism is ______ (in degrees).
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 60
At minimum deviation $r = \dfrac{A}{2}$, and here $i = 2r = A$.
$$\mu = \frac{\sin A}{\sin(A/2)} = 2\cos\frac A2 = \sqrt3 \Rightarrow \frac A2 = 30^\circ \Rightarrow A = 60^\circ$$
