If $M_o$ is the mass of isotope $^{12}_5\text{B}$, and $M_p$ and $M_n$ are the masses of proton and neutron, then the nuclear binding energy of the isotope is:
Answer: (B) $(5M_p + 7M_n - M_o)c^2$
$^{12}_5\text{B}$ has 5 protons and $12 - 5 = 7$ neutrons. Binding energy = mass defect $\times c^2$:
$$E_B = (5M_p + 7M_n - M_o)c^2$$
