Q 11-03-112JEE MainJEE Main 2022 (26 Jun, Shift 1)Easy
A fighter jet is flying horizontally at a certain altitude with a speed of $200\ \text{m s}^{-1}$. When it passes directly overhead an anti-aircraft gun, a bullet is fired from the gun, at an angle $\theta$ with the horizontal, to hit the jet. If the bullet speed is $400\ \text{m s}^{-1}$, the value of $\theta$ will be ______ $^\circ$.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 60
To hit the jet, the bullet must keep up with it horizontally: $400\cos\theta = 200\Rightarrow\cos\theta = \dfrac12\Rightarrow\theta = 60^\circ$.
