Q 11-08-079JEE MainJEE Main 2021 (31 Aug, Shift 1)Easy
When a rubber ball is taken to a depth of ______ m in deep sea, its volume decreases by $0.5\%$. (The bulk modulus of rubber $= 9.8\times10^8\ \text{N m}^{-2}$, density of sea water $= 10^3\ \text{kg m}^{-3}$, $g = 9.8\ \text{m s}^{-2}$)
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 500
$\Delta P = B\dfrac{\Delta V}{V} = 9.8\times10^8\times0.005 = 4.9\times10^6$ Pa.
$$h = \frac{\Delta P}{\rho g} = \frac{4.9\times10^6}{10^3\times9.8} = 500\ \text{m}$$
