The gravitational field due to a uniform solid sphere of mass $M$ and radius $R$ at a distance $\dfrac{R}{2}$ from its centre is
Answer: (B) $\dfrac{GM}{2R^2}$
Inside a uniform solid sphere the field grows linearly with distance from the centre: $E = \dfrac{GMr}{R^3}$.
$$E\left(\frac{R}{2}\right) = \frac{GM}{2R^2}$$
