Which of the following correctly represents the variation of electric potential ($V$) of a charged spherical conductor of radius ($R$) with radial distance ($r$) from the centre?
Answer: (C) see figure
Inside a charged conductor the field is zero, so the potential is constant and equal to its surface value $\dfrac{kQ}{R}$. Outside, $V=\dfrac{kQ}{r}$ falls off as $\dfrac1r$.
Graph (3) shows a flat line up to $R$ followed by a $\dfrac1r$ decrease.
