Two charges of $5Q$ and $-2Q$ are situated at the points $(3a, 0)$ and $(-5a, 0)$ respectively. The electric flux through a sphere of radius $4a$ having centre at origin is:
Answer: (B) $\dfrac{5Q}{\varepsilon_0}$
The charge $5Q$ at distance $3a$ lies inside the sphere; $-2Q$ at distance $5a$ lies outside. By Gauss's law only the enclosed charge counts:
$$\Phi = \frac{5Q}{\varepsilon_0}$$
