The equivalent resistance between $A$ and $B$ of the following network is ______ $\Omega$.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 1
The plain wire at the far left joins the two rails, so $R_1$ is short-circuited and the left end of $R_2$ is at the potential of the bottom rail.
- $R_2$ and $R_3$ are then in parallel: $\dfrac{2\times2}{4} = 1\ \Omega$.
- Add $R_4$ in series: $1 + 2 = 3\ \Omega$.
- In parallel with $R_5$: $\dfrac{3\times3}{6} = 1.5\ \Omega$.
- In parallel with $R_6$: $\dfrac{1.5\times3}{4.5} = 1\ \Omega$.
$R_{AB} = 1\ \Omega$.
