Three voltmeters, all having different internal resistances, are joined as shown in figure. When some potential difference is applied across A and B, their readings are $V_1$, $V_2$ and $V_3$. Choose the correct option.
Answer: (D) $V_1 + V_2 = V_3$
$V_1$ and $V_2$ are in series in one branch, and $V_3$ alone forms the parallel branch between A and B. Both branches have the same potential difference $V_{AB}$:
$$V_1 + V_2 = V_{AB} = V_3$$
Since the resistances differ, $V_1 \ne V_2$ in general.
