According to Bohr atom model, in which of the following transitions will the frequency be maximum?
Answer: (D) $n = 2$ to $n = 1$
$h\nu = 13.6\left(\dfrac{1}{n_f^2} - \dfrac{1}{n_i^2}\right)$ eV.
$2\to1$: $13.6\times\frac34 = 10.2$ eV; $3\to2$: 1.89 eV; $4\to3$: 0.66 eV; $5\to4$: 0.31 eV. The largest energy, hence the highest frequency, is for $n = 2 \to 1$.
