Which one of the following is the correct dimensional formula for the capacitance in F? $M$, $L$, $T$ and $C$ stand for unit of mass, length, time and charge.
Answer: (A) $[\text{F}] = [C^2M^{-1}L^{-2}T^2]$
$C = \dfrac{Q}{V}$ and $V = \dfrac{W}{Q}$, so
$$C = \frac{Q^2}{W}$$
With $[W] = [ML^2T^{-2}]$:
$$[C] = \frac{[C^2]}{[ML^2T^{-2}]} = [C^2M^{-1}L^{-2}T^2]$$
