Q 12-02-214JEE MainJEE Main 2025 (7 Apr, Shift 2)Easy
A parallel plate capacitor has charge $5\times10^{-6}\ \text{C}$. A dielectric slab is inserted between the plates and almost fills the space between the plates. If the induced charge on one face of the slab is $4\times10^{-6}\ \text{C}$, then the dielectric constant of the slab is ______.
Numerical value type. Enter your answer.
Answer: 5
The induced charge is $Q_{\text{in}} = Q\left(1 - \dfrac1K\right)$:
$$4 = 5\left(1 - \frac1K\right) \Rightarrow \frac1K = \frac15 \Rightarrow K = 5$$
