Three capacitors $C_1 = 2\ \mu$F, $C_2 = 6\ \mu$F and $C_3 = 12\ \mu$F are connected as shown in the figure. Find the ratio of the charges on capacitors $C_1$, $C_2$ and $C_3$ respectively.
Answer: (D) $1 : 2 : 2$
$C_2$ and $C_3$ are in series (via $D$) between $A$ and $B$; $C_1$ is directly across $A$ and $B$. Both branches have the battery voltage $V$.
Series $C_2$, $C_3$: $C_s = \dfrac{6\times12}{18} = 4\ \mu$F, so $Q_2 = Q_3 = 4V$.
$Q_1 = 2V$.
$Q_1 : Q_2 : Q_3 = 2 : 4 : 4 = 1 : 2 : 2$.
