Two equal capacitors are first connected in series and then in parallel. The ratio of the equivalent capacities in the two cases will be:
Answer: (B) $1 : 4$
Series: $C_s = \dfrac{C}{2}$. Parallel: $C_p = 2C$. So $C_s : C_p = \dfrac{C}{2} : 2C = 1 : 4$.
